Winter Training

2024 Winter Training

Below is everything you should need for Winter Training in 2024:

Dates:

Winter Training Sessions will run on January 7, 21, February 4, 18, March 3 and 17.

Specialty Clinics will be held on January 14, 28, February 11, 25 and March 10, 24 for any Ponytail, Sophomore or Junior level girls who want to learn more about pitching,  Exact times will be communicated after our first session on January 15.  These sessions will be limited to 12 girls per session and registration will be done via Sign Up Genius the week leading up to the clinic.   All girls are encouraged to bring their own catchers but any girls interested in catching  who are not participating in the pitching clinic are welcome to come and catch the pitchers as well.

Times:

Instructional:  12:15pm - 1:15pm

Ponytail:  1:30pm - 3:00pm

Sophomore:  3:00pm - 4:45pm

Junior:  5:00pm - 6:45pm

Senior:  5:00pm - 6:45pm

Where:

All sessions will be held in the Elk Grove High School.  Everyone must enter through Door #24 which is in the back of the school directly across from the football stadium.  Once inside walk straight down the hallway to the fieldhouse door.  Enter the fieldhouse and go to your right.  Please do not wander down other hallways within the building.  We are very grateful to EGHS for allowing us to use their facilities and we want to be considerate guests.

Equipment:

Everyone should bring a fielding mitt and batting helmet.  Fielding masks and bats are strongly recommended but bats can often be shared.  Everyone should wear athletic apparel and gym shoes.  Cleats are not allowed inside the high school.

Covid Protocols:

-At this time proof of vaccination is not required for participants or parents.  This is subject to change at any time and will be communicated if it does.

-Masks are currently optional but we highly recommend that all participants, coaches, parents and spectators wear masks while inside EGHS.

-The Park District has asked that the number of spectators be as limited as possible.  We understand many will want to stay and watch the girls but please try to keep the number of extra family members attending to a minimum.

-Any other protocols implemented by the Park District or Elk Grove High School throughout Winter Training will be communicated and will have to be adhered to by everyone.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in need of volunteers for all Winter Training sessions.  If you can spare some time we would appreciate any time anyone can spare.  The more volunteers we have the more we are able to break the girls down into smaller groups and provide more targeted instruction.  You do not need to sign up in advance, just come with your daughter on Sunday ready to help out.

If anyone has any Winter Training specific questions please do not hesitate to contact Peter Kokenes at specialprograms@egvgirlssoftball.com.
